What is the most effective way to learn Spanish?

I am going to be taking college classes this fall, but I wanted to get some feedback on what you think is the best and most effective way to learn Spanish as a second language.

Thank you!

That depends on you, of course. The first way to determine how you can effectively learn a language is to see how your mind learns. Try different methods and see which works for you. Personally, I’m a flashcards kind of person that needs to write down words in order to learn them. Either make them yourself or download memorylifter or before you know it; they are two great flashcard programs I use for a variety of languages.

You might be someone that learns easily by hearing, so watching cartoons for kids in Spanish would be a great way; I recommend Spongebob for that, it h has helped me with my Spanish and my German when I lived in Europe.

If you learn by oral practice, go to any site that offers voice chat – language exchanges such as http://www.mylanguageexchange.com/, www.sharedtalk.com, or http://www.languageexchange.org/

Try everything out and see what works best for you, you might even find that a combination of all of these methods will work best for you.

That depends on the way you like learning. In general, it’s easier to learn when you have fun. So try to do something interactive (you can find Interactive courses in livemocha), practice with Music, watching videos, … and then move to understand texts, the grammar, learn the vocabulary.

One advise that I’ll give you is LISTEN to the language so you’ll make familiar with the sounds of the Spanish language. If you like cartoons watch them in Spanish as the language is simpler.

I’d like to add the following link to the above list:

You’ll find podcasts, videos, music and much more there.

    Cheers!

look up rosetta stone. The best program you can use. Made learnin japanese fun and easy. It works with or without a mic. with a mic is best so you can repeat what is being requested you say. its awesome and ud love how easy it is to learn a new language. It masks the learning process in a very effective way. visual, listening, typing, and speaking all in one!

You can support it and buy the product or you can do what most others do. search for the torrent. there are a crapload of languages to choose from aswell!
