No, your right there was a a strike of BBC technical staff. But all it did was delay transmission of “The Anniversary” and “Basil the Rat”. The reason it ended was because John Cleese and Connie Booth wanted every episode to be perfect. Some episodes took ten drafts to write. They wanted to end the show on a high. They didn’t want to weaken the show with lower quality work later down the line.
