Learn Spanish imageOne of the best investments in yourself today is to learn Spanish. It doesn’t matter if you’re going on a trip to a Spanish speaking country, looking for a new job, or are a business owner. All will benefit tremendously who learn to speak Spanish. Knowing a second language is a prized and sought-after skill.

The first reason for learning Spanish language or any foreign language is that it presents the opportunity to earn more money and opens the door to better job opportunities. Here’s on example: If you work in a hospital with many Spanish speaking patients, how can you accurately communicate with them in administering care? Lack of precise communication can lead to lawsuits. Here’s another example: What if you are up for promotion in your company but one of the requirements is that you have the ability to speak to a group of Spanish speaking employees in order to manage them?

The second reason is that of the perception of increased intelligence. It’s socially accepted that a person who speaks a second language is perceived to be more intelligent than those who do not have this skill. The majority of Europeans not only speaks their native language but also speak English as well as other foreign languages. That’s one reason why Americans are perceived to be less intelligent than Europeans.

The third reason to learn how to speak Spanish is that you will have more opportunities socially. You’ll make new friends which will expand your opportunities for business and you’ll be invited to more social and business activities.

The last reason to learn beginner Spanish is the increased enjoyment and opportunities you’ll get when traveling. For instance, if you go to Cancun, you can more effectively barter with vendors to get better deals on products that you want to bring home. What if you have a medical emergency? The medical staff would greatly benefit if you could speak their language. Also, you’ll get much better service in restaurants and stores when you can read menus, signs, and other directions.

I want to learn spanish but I’ve come across lessons online that seems to mix up words. So my real question is how do I look up Mexican Spanish rather than Spain Spanish when looking for lessons online? I want to be able to speak the local second language of my area or am I doing all of this for naught?.

I understand exactly what you mean. Each country has there way of saying things.

For example in Mexico: transfer – trasladar, traslado, transferencia, traspaso, transferible, transito, transmision, transbordo.

transfer – traslado: to move, of employee, department etc.
transfer – transferencia: of money, funds
transfer – traspaso: footballer
transfer – trasbordar: from plane to plane

and there are many more. So I guess you just have to becareful with the definition that you need.

I need to learn spanish fast and I have no money to spend to learn it. Please help.

It is possible to learn Spanish for free, however I do not recommend it. The problem is that free websites / free programs are only willing to offer so much. There would just be a dis organization of information that wouldn’t go together very easily.

However, I do invite you to check out a way to learn Spanish online which does cost some money. You can go here for more information: http://www.stuff4you.biz/languages.html

How well can I learn spanish in a week?

I have been speaking basic Spanish for 4 years and have just now recently been speaking more of it. I have the accent down and the letters of the alphabet. How much Spanish could I learn if I spent a week of just immersing my self in it. Is it possible for me to speak fluently? By the way the place where I work there are Spanish speaking people, so I would have people to converse with. Thanks!

I’m afraid you wouldn’t achieve much in a week, certainly nothing like enough to call yourself fluent. If you are working, then it’s unlikely you could immerse yourself for more than 30 hours in the week, which is only 10% of the time required by a gifted learner to gain a working knowledge of the language.
